Honoring Florida's Educators

During American Education Week (November 16-22) we highlight the importance of providing every child in Florida with a high quality public education from kindergarten through college and the need for everyone to do his or her part in making public schools great. We want to use this week to honor educators throughout Florida and acknowledge the contributions they make to our lives. We believe in the motto of one of our national affiliates, the National Education Association, which proclaims that Great Teachers Make Great Public Schools. We want to draw attention to the crucial role teachers play in making sure every child receives a high quality public education and recognize the hard work they do each day to make public schools great for every child. Few other professionals touch as many people as teachers do. We advocate for high standards for students, fair and meaningful evaluations of their work, and resources that go directly to the classroom. We understand that our public schools are at the heart of our communities.
